Record of Criminal Register of Natural Persons
What you need
- Being a natural person, not a legal entity (corporation, foundation, etc.)
- Citizen identity for logging into the Citizen Portal
- Databox connected to the Citizen Portal
How to do it
Sign in to the Citizen Portal, select the service, and click “Download.” After it’s processed, your Criminal Record Extract will not be sent to your data mailbox or email but directly to the Citizen Portal – in the My Files section, if you’re using a web browser. If you’re downloading the extract in the mobile app, you’ll need to select your phone’s internal storage. If you have email notifications enabled, you’ll also receive an email confirming the download.

In what format will I recieve the record
It will be sent in PDF format to the email address you provided when you applied in the Citizen Portal.
What to be aware of
Be sure to indicate the purpose of the record accordingly so you don't have to re-apply because the record won't be correct, for example for an employer abroad.

Is an electronic record from the Criminal Register obtained in this way valid?
An electronic record from the Criminal Register, whether obtained using the Citizen Portal or delivered to the databox of a natural person, has the same legal force only in electronic form as a record issued in paper form at a Czech POINT contact point. Such electronically acquired records from the Criminal Register affixed with a valid recognized electronic seal, can be used, for example, in online communication with public authorities or private entities via a databox or by e-mail with an electronic signature or other applications where your identity is verified. If you print out an electronic record from the Criminal Register received in this way, the document loses its legal effect, since the integrity and authenticity of the document is no longer verifiable once it has been converted from electronic to paper form. Similarly, a statement issued in paper form at a Czech POINT contact point, which is subsequently scanned, also loses its legal effect. According to the legislation in force, the conversion of a statement from electronic to paper form or vice versa must undergo an authorized conversion pursuant to Act No. 300/2008 Coll. on Electronic Acts and Authorised Conversion of Documents, which can be carried out at the Czech POINT contact point. The document created by the conversion shall have the same legal effects as the document which was converted into a new document. More information can be found on the official website of Czech POINT.
Does an electronic record from the Criminal Register sent to a data box have greater validity than when it is downloaded?
Both forms of obtaining a record from that form have the same legal validity in electronic form.
Where can I find more detailed information?
You can always find more detailed information on the website of the school you are applying for.
Can the items in the form be combined?
Only the options "record from abroad" and "record due to regular and direct contact with children" can be combined. A record in a language other than Czech must be requested separately.
What are the benefits of this service?
You will obtain a public document proving your clean criminal record (e.g. for a new job) or proof of whether or not your conviction has been expunged.
In which languages can I get an official translation?
The record of the Criminal Register allows you to generate a translation into other official languages of the EU Member States and the generated translation is always included as an annex to the received record. The Czech original (it is a public document), together with the generated language annex, is always presented on the homepage. The record received in this way via the Citizen's Portal has legal validity only in electronic form and within the EU. It is recommended to consult the possibilities of recognition of the above-mentioned record supplemented with the language annex in third countries directly with the Office of the Criminal Register at +420 244 006 111 and +420 244 006 112 or by e-mail at rejstrik@rejtr.justice.cz, which manages the above-mentioned register.
Can I use this form to apply for another person's record?
In the case that another person submits the application on behalf of the applicant, it is possible to apply in person at the Criminal Register, at a Czech POINT contact point, or at a Czech embassy abroad upon presentation of a power of attorney with an officially certified signature, or a power of attorney in a foreign language officially translated into Czech and bearing a certification clause (apostille). Currently, it is not possible to use this form to apply electronically for a record of another person. In order to obtain the record, the applicant, as an authorized person, has to log in to the Citizen Portal himself or use the option of personal application by an authorized person through an officially certified power of attorney.
Can I cancel my application?
Yes, a pending application can be canceled directly by the Criminal Register Office, which can be contacted by phone at +420 244 006 111 and +420 244 006 112, by e-mail at rejstrik@rejtr.justice.cz, or via databox: vtqabcz
